Status and limits
What exists today§
- A draft specification (SANAD-SPEC-0.1): data model, canonical hashing, the recognition function (rules R1 to R8), transparency log, privacy and discovery, threats, governance and open questions.
- This website, in English with draft translations.
- A reference implementation with 20 conformance vectors, and an interactive explainer hosted by the Kamangir project for now.
What has not been done§
- Review by a standards body, a lawyer or an external cryptographer.
- Trademark registration (the steward will file the application himself; not yet filed) and copyright deposit (see the name and intellectual property policy).
- Independent implementations, conformance testing, real attestors outside the author's circle.
- Native-speaker review of the German text.
What Sanad does not claim§
- It does not accredit institutions or certify people. Verifiers decide what to accept.
- It does not prove honesty: a person can still be helped outside the camera. A chain says what was observed.
- It does not replace legal recognition: degrees remain what states and institutions say they are.
- It is not a blockchain and has no token. An optional public timestamp of log checkpoints may use an existing service.
Who is responsible§
Dr. Arash Kermani Kolankeh is the author and interim steward. A foundation is to be formed in the United Arab Emirates. The free-zone foundation regimes examined (ADGM, DIFC) require a council of at least two, so a second steward is being appointed; a lawyer must confirm other forms. See Governance and the legal notice.
