Accessibility statement
A German version is available: Erklärung zur Barrierefreiheit.
Status of this statement§
This statement is voluntary. The operator is a private individual, and the legal duties for accessibility of websites in some countries (for example the German BITV 2.0 for public bodies or the accessibility requirements for certain private offers in the European Union) may not apply to this site. The operator nevertheless aims to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA, the technical basis of those rules.
Method and result (7 November 2026)§
- Automated check with the axe-core engine (WCAG 2.0 to 2.2 A and AA rules and best practices) on every page of the site, in the light and the dark colour scheme and at desktop and phone width. Result: no violations reported. Automated tools find only part of all problems.
- Keyboard test, carried out with scripted keyboard input on eight representative pages (English and German): the skip link is the first Tab stop and moves to the main content; every focus stop shows a focus ring of at least 2 pixels; there is no keyboard trap; the "More" menu opens with Enter and its links are reached with Tab; scrolling tables can be focused. Result: all checks passed.
- Reflow and text spacing: at a width of 320 pixels (equal to 400 percent zoom) no horizontal scrolling; with increased line, letter, word and paragraph spacing no content is cut off.
- Contrast: the colour pairs of both colour schemes were calculated and meet 4.5 to 1 for text and 3 to 1 for large text and graphics.
- Not done: no test with real screen readers or other assistive technology; no external audit; no test by people with disabilities.
What has been done§
- Semantic structure: one main heading per page, landmarks, a skip link, breadcrumbs, numbered headings, definition lists and tables with header cells.
- Colour is never the only carrier of meaning; links are underlined; focus is clearly visible.
- Language is declared per page; right-to-left pages use logical properties; Latin names and code are isolated inside right-to-left text.
- No time limits, no flashing content, no scripts needed; reduced-motion preferences are respected; text can be enlarged to 200 percent without loss.
- Links that lead to English-only pages are marked in translated pages.
Known limitations§
- The German pages are a draft translation, not checked by a native speaker or with a screen reader in German.
- The PDF of the specification is tagged and has bookmarks and a language, but has not been tested with a screen reader.
- Mathematical expressions and diagrams are written as text and tables.
