For examiners and assessors
An attestation is a signed statement about one piece of evidence: the level you award, your role and whether you declare a conflict of interest.
- Marks are blind: you publish a commitment to your mark first and reveal it only after all commitments are in.
- You must declare relationships that could bias you (family, employer, paid tutoring, same cohort). An undeclared conflict that is discovered is recorded as a signed dispute.
- Your sittings and your agreement with other examiners are public and recomputable. Verifiers may require, for example, three sittings and 70 percent agreement.
- Nothing stops a verifier from trusting only a named list of assessors; nothing stops you from attesting for people no verifier knows. That is the decentralised design.
Next step: read section 9 of the specification and the conformance page for the attestor class.
