Fact sheet§
- What: an open protocol for recomputable recognition of skills. A claim, typed evidence and signed attestations form a chain; anyone runs a published function with their own policy and gets a level, a confidence and an explanation.
- Who: Dr. Arash Kermani Kolankeh, author and interim steward, Dubai. The Open Sanad Foundation (UAE) is in preparation.
- Status (7 November 2026): specification draft v0.1; reference implementation and 20 test vectors; website; an explainer hosted by the Kamangir project. No independent implementation yet. No funding received.
- Not: accreditation, a blockchain, a coin, a ranking of people, a replacement for legal recognition.
- Name: Sanad, a short word for a document and the chain of support behind it. Not yet registered as a trademark.
What would convince us that we are wrong§
- An independent implementation that follows the text but disagrees with the vectors on a case the text should settle: the specification is ambiguous.
- Examiners who can be shown to collude without the data in the chain revealing it: the independence safeguards are too weak.
- Verifiers who find that the explanation misleads applicants or employers about what the evidence shows.
- Evidence that blind marking or the log can be defeated by someone with ordinary access.
- No second implementer after a year of open invitation: the design may not be adoptable.
Quote with care: Sanad is a draft with one steward. It does not claim endorsements, partners or users.
